GENE ARMSTRONG


Gene Armstrong has shod horses professionally for over 40 years.  Gene was the instructor of the professional Farrier Science classes at Cal Poly University in San Luis Obispo for 25 years.  Mr. Armstrong is a Journeyman Certified Farrier with the American Farrier's Association and has been inducted into the A.F.A.'s Hall of Fame.  He has been the West Coast Regional Examiner for the A.F.A.'s Certification Program for the past 12 years.  Although retired from Cal Poly, Gene still maintains his full time farrier business.   During his 35 year career at Cal Poly, he also instructed equine classes.  Gene's hobby is riding and showing Reined Cow Horses, but also enjoys packing with horses and mules in the Sierra Mountains.  Gene believes "that the horse is good for the inside and outside of a person."
